Ugly, ugly bets today… Sorry.
Both teams are still alive for a playoff spot, but have some pretty big hills to climb. The Blues are six points behind Calgary in the Western Conference, while the Islanders have fallen ten points behind Boston Bruins, who has the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.
St. Louis has won two of three games on its current roadtrip, but lost its last game to The Avs, 7-3, at Pepsi Center. An unfortunate game letdown? Before that game, the Blues had five straight wins.
The Isles have lost three in a row and four of their last five games. They have run into some injury trouble again:
Rick DiPietro,Goalie, Knee, IR. Out indefinitely
Radek Martinek Defender, Leg, IR. Out for the season
Blake Comeau Left wing, Face, Doubtful for March 11 vs. St.Louis
Trent Hunter Right wing, Upper body, Out until at least mid-March
Andrew MacDonald Defender, Foot, Questionable for March 11 vs. St. Louis
St.Louis Blues will miss Cam Janssen(suspended) and Keith Tkachuk(injured) tonight.
Dwayne Roloson(likely. 90.7 save pct.) and Chris Mason(confirmed, 91.2 save pct.) will battle between the pipes tonight. Pretty even matchup IMO.
The Blues may be the worst home team in the league, but they are an impressive 18-10-4 on the road this season, 4th in the NHL.
They team will continue to battle for a playoff spot, but do have to maintain its current form.
